Who we are

DM Smith Brickwork is a brickwork business based in Newark upon Trent, Nottinghamshire, and is responsible for the personal information handled through this website. You can reach us on 07377 542552 or at dmsmithbrickwork@outlook.com.

What we collect

If you use the enquiry form on this website, we receive the details you type into it: your name, your message, and whichever of phone number, email address, postcode and type of work you choose to provide. Only your name and message are required, along with at least one way of replying to you.

If you contact us by telephone, email, WhatsApp or Facebook instead, we receive whatever information you choose to share in that conversation, including the phone number or address you contact us from.

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking services, and does not build a profile of you.

Why we use it

We use the information solely to respond to your enquiry, to discuss the work you are asking about, and to carry out that work if you go ahead. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not sell or share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Our lawful basis

Where you contact us about possible work, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services, and on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. Where we go on to carry out work for you, we rely on performance of that contract.

Who else is involved

A small number of service providers handle information on our behalf so that this website and our email can work:

• Vercel hosts this website and processes the technical request information any web server receives, such as IP address and browser type, in order to serve pages and keep the service secure.
• Resend delivers enquiry-form submissions to our mailbox as an email.
• Microsoft provides the Outlook mailbox in which we receive and keep that email.

Enquiries are not stored in a database on this website. Each submission is passed straight to our mailbox and is not retained by the site itself.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries only as long as we reasonably need them. Where an enquiry does not lead to work, we aim to delete it within around twelve months. Where work goes ahead, we keep the related correspondence for as long as needed for the job and for any legal, tax or insurance reason that applies afterwards.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to ask us to delete it, and to object to or ask us to restrict how we use it. To make a request, use the contact details above.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab).

This website links to Facebook and WhatsApp. Once you follow one of those links you are on a service run by another company, with its own privacy policy and its own use of cookies. We are not responsible for how those services handle your information.
